“The slow overcomes the fast. The soft overcomes the hard. Don’t go beyond 70 percent of your effort.” These are all sentiments commonly heard in Qigong and Tai Chi classes. Some may find this is downright un-American! How can you get anywhere if you don’t give 150 percent? Yet, Qigong and Tai Chi show us how to slow down enough to better understand and befriend the mind-body process that we are. We become more efficient with how we expend physical, mental, and emotional energy. This often leads to a sense of clarity, harmony, and buoyancy as we navigate the ever-changing ebb and flow of life. And it also helps us regain our balance, if we slip on a banana peel!

The Level I Class:
We begin with Qigong warm-ups and then Tai Chi essentials. There is no complicated choreography. Level I offers highly adaptable and accessible ways of moving for everyone. Participants find it to be quite portable. No special location or equipment needed; no particular body type or ability required. Tai Chi can gently interrupt patterns of physical tension, difficult emotions, and trapped energy. We literally move things along. Through humor and playful curiosity, we exit the rumination station and enter the discovery channel.
Practicing from a chair is always an option. No experience necessary.
Tai Chi Under the Tree - Level I:
Being outdoors and learning together can inspire a deeper sense of well-being and community. Everything is richer with nature as our co-pilot.
All of the above classes are free. Donations happily accepted for Tai Chi Under the Tree & Tues Community Tai Chi on Zoom.
